Jesus said, “I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” —Matthew 25:40
Lupe’s Thrift Shop is blessed to be frequented by our local community and we want all who shop here to feel honored by the finds they purchase in our shop.
We welcome your donations and we kindly request that the items you donate are in good condition. Why? Because even God’s poor deserve to find good value in a thrift shop. It’s about treating our brothers and sisters with respect and acknowledging their dignity by giving them things we ourselves value. The poor suffer many indignities; this is one small way we can honor them; a way we can treat them as we would Jesus.
You may consider, if an item is torn, stained, worn out or broken; why would anyone else want it? But if your items are nicely taken care of and perfectly suitable to be worn or used again – we can assure you that your donation will bless just the right people.
Clothing, shoes and jewelry may seem insignificant in the big scheme of things, but they matter — perhaps more to the poor than anyone else. Because what each of us wears and how we present ourselves gives us a sense of self-worth, self-respect and belonging. The poor like to look and feel good, just like you and I. They need good things for practical reasons too — for job interviews, for attending houses of worship and for their daily lives.
In this Year of Mercy, let’s give our good stuff to Lupe’s Thrift Shop!
